The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®, headquartered in White Plains, NY, with 68 chapters in the United States and Canada, is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. The Society’s mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $550 million in research specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Last year alone, the Society made 4.2 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's fundraising program Team In Training (TNT) is the world’s largest endurance sports training program and the Society’s largest fundraising arm. TNT was started in 1988 by a gentleman whose daughter was fighting leukemia. Since its inception, more than 340,000 Team In Training participants have raised more than $800 million while training for marathons, triathlons, and 100-mile bicycle rides. Participants change their own lives and lifestyles while funding lifesaving cancer research and services to benefit those living with blood cancers. 13 Society funded researchers are here in Maryland, but our impact is felt worldwide.
