Welcome to the Nanticoke River Swim & Triathlon produced and directed by the Nanticoke River Swim & Triathlon Association. The Nanticoke River Swim & Triathlon Association is a 501-c3 non-profit organization. Please do not consider entry unless you have properly prepared and trained for this ultimate challenge. The Race Date/Time:
Sunday May 4, 2008 at 10:00 AM. (Could vary slightly based on tidal flow) from the Cedar Hill Marina in Bivalve, Maryland. Competitors under 18 will require a parent or legal guardians consent.
About the event:
We go rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, management reserves the right to alter/modify the race/course for safety concerns. In the case of a “Natural Disaster”/Local incident/Terrorist Act, there will be no refunds of race entry fees. Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid. There is no complementary race entry to a future race. All monies collected are used to develop and produce the event, including all race supplies, staffing, and administration. We pledge to make every effort to product a fair, safe and exciting event for all. Any decision we make to go forward with the race is based on the overall event safety. Management further reserves the right to reject or accept any race entry.
Race Courses:
Swim:
Wetsuits are not required but are strongly encouraged, Temperatures are expected to be in the 62 degree range. Wet suit rentals are provided through Bonzai Sports. Details for wetsuit rentals are on the registration page.
Bike:
The bike course is a 15.2 mile and is described here.
Run:
The run course is 3.1 miles and is described here.
Transition Areas:
Both transition areas for the bike and the run will be in the Cedar Hill Marina. The transition areas are not secured and will close at the start of wave 1 of the swim. You are responsible for the security of your personal items. A map of the transition area is shown here.
Time Limits:
The cut-off time limits will be strictly enforced and are as follows:
- Swim: the 3 mile swim cutoff is 3 hours and the 1/2 mile swim cut-off is 45 minutes,
- Bike: 1 hour and 30 minutes
- Overall Triathlon: 3 hours
Race Fee Structure
Entry Prior to March 1, 2008
- Triathlon Participant: $60
- Triathlon Relay (includes all participants): $110
- 3 Mile Swim: $55
- 1/2 Mile Swim: $30
Entry after March 1, 2008 will increase by $10.00 per entry
Refund Policy
A partial refund of your entry fee less a $25.00 administrative charge can be made if requested in writing or via e-mail on or before March 1, 2008. After this date no refunds can be made for any reason. There are no race transfers or substitutions. Selling or your race entry slot is strictly prohibited. Selling of race entries jeopardizes our race insurance coverage. Valid ID will be required at race packet pick-up.
USA Triathlon Membership Info:
The insurance and event coverage is through USAT (USA Triathlon). Athletes who are not members of USAT will be able to purchase a one day membership for the event during the registration process.

We are working with Wicomico County Tourism to obtain special rates for local area hotels. Check the accommodations page for more information.
Pre Event Bike Racking:
Bikes can be racked starting at 7:00 AM in the transition area at the Cedar Hill Marina. The transition area will closed at the start of swim wave 1.
Pre Event Race Meeting:
The pre event race meeting will provide important race updates on the day of the meeting. Please plan to attend the pre race event meeting on Sunday Morning at 8:30 AM at the Cedar Hill Marina to review courses and safety issues.
Race Prizes:
Non Cash prizes for overall top 3 places for both Male and Female groups in the 3 mile and sprint triathlon. Non-cash prizes for top 3 finishers in both events for both Male and female groups in five year age categories.
